DATELINE: HOLLYWOOD, CA. - JUNE 23, 1997
MGM/UA spokespeople have confirmed that Brian Davis Lyles has been cast in SPECIES II, currently filming in the Baltimore area, quickly becoming known as Hollywood East.
Although he is only an extra, if the scene does not end up on the cutting room floor, this will be Lyles' major motion picture debut, and his first acting job since his stint as stage manager and Action Comedy News anchorman in the Baltimore comedy troupe Contents Under Pressure in 1990. (Coincidentally, there he performed with actors that appeared in the such films as Avalon and Hairspray , also filmed in Baltimore.) Lyles began his stage career by performing in talent shows at his alma maters Gilman School and Loyola College.
Brian Lyles is one of the department managers at The Engineering Society of Baltimore, Inc. Located in Baltimore's historic Garrett-Jacobs Mansion in Mount Vernon Place, The Engineering Society has been the locations of several motion pictures and television productions itself, and Lyles has assisted in coordinating activities during the filmings of the movies Twelve Monkeys and Major League II , as well as NBC's Homicide: Life on the Streets.
Originally chosen to be one of the biologists in a lab scene, MGM says that Lyles is now to be one of several Air Force MPs. Further details are under wraps; however it has been learned that filming for the scene will take place on Monday, June 23rd at an Hitachi facility in Burtonsville, Maryland.
